We need social innovation to deal with the major societal challenges we face - nationally and globally.
Denmark has a long and strong tradition of creating social innovation. The public school, the cooperative movement, the danish folk high school movement and the labour market model are all examples of pioneering social innovation. But social innovation is not a commonly known concept in Denmark, and it is not a political priority. KOTE 0 has to change that.
The EU is investing in infrastructure for social innovation
The European Commission has social innovation high on the agenda and in 2021 to 2027 and 90 billion euros will roll out from the European Social Fund in the EFS+ programme to strengthen social innovation in the member states.
The establishment of a national platform for social innovation is the first step towards these EU funds being able to contribute to supporting social innovation in Denmark.
Danish Social Innovation Academy and Danish Design Center receive support from the European Social Fund for the establishment of KOTE 0, and are part of a pan-European network of national competence centers for social innovation covering 150 organizations in 26 countries.
